Featured Professor: Miss Rodeo America 2017

Lisa Lageschaar –  Weatherford, Texas

Lisa Lageschaar of Weatherford, Texas has been involved in the equine and rodeo industry her entire life. Lisa is a first-generation American who grew up on a dairy farm in the small east Texas town of Pickton and did not come from an equestrian background, but her first word (and first love) was “horse.” She developed a strong passion for horses, rodeo, agriculture and the western lifestyle. She is an avid team roper and barrel racer and served as Miss Rodeo America 2017; she traveled thousands of miles across North America promoting rodeo, agriculture, and the western way of life.

Lisa has a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from Tarleton State University. Being a positive example is important to Lisa and this belief is what lead her to pursue her chosen profession as an educator. Not only does she teach on the importance of agriculture as it relates to our future, but she also strives to instill values like humility, hard work, and integrity — words she learned the definition of through first-hand experience growing up on a dairy farm. Through Lisa’s career as a high school agricultural silence teacher, she has been an active member in her community, giving back to the local youth through programs like the National FFA Organization and 4H. She has coached many students on public speaking, veterinary science, floriculture, horse evaluation, livestock judging and more.

In 2018 Lisa started her own personal and pageant coaching business — A.R.I.S.E. In 2019 she will marry her fiancé Anthony Lucia, and continue coaching, serving as a clinician, competing in rodeos across the country, and glorifying God.
